Pre-University examination 2012 Results | PU results only in fourth week of May: Kageri

Pre-University examination 2012 Results
The results of the second year Pre-University examination will now be announced only after the Common Entrance Test (CET). Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri on Thursday said the second-year PU results would be announced only in the fourth week of May — anytime from May 21 to 26 — contrary to the expectations that the results may be announced in the second or third week of May.

This would mean that the results would be available only after the CET, which is being held from May 21 to 23.

Mr. Kageri stated that the SSLC results would be announced in the third week of May.

PU recruitment

The Minister said the government had taken up the process of recruiting 1,765 lecturers for PU colleges and 3,500 teachers for high schools. May 15 was the last date for the aspirants to send their applications, he noted.

He said the government was taking steps to ensure that textbooks as well as uniform clothes were distributed to students of government schools by May-end, well before the commencement of the next academic year. Already 50 per cent of the books had been distributed to the schools, he noted.

Donation menace

Asserting that the government was committed to preventing donation menace in private schools, especially in Bangalore, he said top officials of the Education Department as well as the Deputy Commissioners of districts had been instructed to act sternly if they receive any complaints from parents regarding donation menace.

At the same time, he appealed to parents to shun the mindset that their wards have to get admission only in a few prestigious schools as private schools were trying to take advantage of such a situation.

CID probe

Answering queries on the ongoing CID probe regarding the leak of PU question papers, the Minister said the inquiry was progressing well and that the CID had managed to get some vital leads. Explanations had been sought from the Director of Government Treasury's Mangalore division as well as Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Chickmagalur district regarding the question paper leak, he said.
