LUCKNOW: BabasahebBhimraoAmbedkar University (BBAU) celebrated the 64th Republic Day will the traditional fervor. University vice-chancellor Prof RC Sobti hoisted the tricolour. On the occasion, NCC cadets (20 UP Girls' Battalion) marched in tune and stepped to the rhythm of the band stirring patriotic feelings.

Stressing upon the importance of the Constitution, Prof Sobti said, "India was called "sone ki chidya" because of its heritage. Social revolutionary and a visionary, Dr BR Ambedkar, who gave us our Constitution, taught us to establish social order based on equality, liberty and fraternity.''

Prof Sobti appealed to the university fraternity to come together and work for the development of students and university. He emphasised on the three S's -- symphony, sneering and symbiosis. We need to make the campus dynamic, transparent, accountable having global vision.''

The VC reiterated his plans to expand the university by opening new departments including biology, nano-technology, genomics and phonemics, and by launching integrated courses in science, police administration, social sciences and public health. He also stressed on creating school of performing arts, school of English, school of dental and nursing science.
