The exams were conducted on May 16 this year in which about 2,85,193 candidates appeared in the test for admissions into under-graduate courses in engineering and pharmacy in the state.

Earlier, Maharashtra Health and Technical - Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) used to be conducted which used to be a combined entrance exam for engineering, pharmacy and health sciences degree courses in the state.

It was only last year when single entrance for medical and dental admissions in the country called "NEET" was introduced by the union Government and then Maharashtra changed the MHT to MT and kept it for admissions into engineering and pharmacy courses only.

Next year MT CET will be dissolved as the admissions into the said courses will be done through Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) scheme.
