"The PPSC has not declared the merit list. We have just listed the names of candidates who have qualified for the final interview," said APS Virk, secretary, examination, PPSC. He said the interview date would be fixed soon.
In 2009, the state government had sent a requisition to the PPSC to fill posts in various departments, including the Punjab Civil Services (PCS), district food controller, deputy superintendent of police (DSP), and excise and taxation.
The candidates who applied for the DSP's post in the Punjab Police will undergo a physical test on May 7 and 8; after that, the commission will announce the date of interview, a PPSC spokesman said.
The PPSC is conducting the PCS exam after nearly 12 years. The examination process was initiated in 2009, but the main exam was held in October 2011.
